As our district experiences rapid growth and development, I believe lawmakers must stop playing catch-up reactively and start planning proactively. This campaign is built on protecting the district’s future by harnessing our homegrown strengths through collaboration and balanced legislation:

• Smart Infrastructure Growth & Agriculture: Does Sussex county look the same that it did 10 years ago? How about 2 years ago?
  • Managing growth responsibly is possible. The scaffolding exists to protect our vulnerable wetlands, coastline, and agriculture.
  • I champion a balanced approach by collaborating with local municipalities, zoning officials, and owners to encourage housing development in areas where infrastructure already exists, rather than replacing our historic family farms and agriculture that drive the local economy.
• Housing Affordability & Cost of Living: Does your dollar not go as far as what it used to? The difference gap between median income and the cost of living is increasing.
  • Many of our neighbors are on fixed incomes, working at least one job, and/or raising families.
  • Those who keep our community running like teachers, farmers, business-owners, police, first responders, and nurses—need the opportunity to live where they work.
  • As your representative, I will protect fixed-income residents by exploring tax-relief and programs to ensure our seniors aren’t priced out of the homes and neighborhoods they helped build. We can encourage the construction/renovation of starter homes, townhomes, and smaller properties that working families can actually afford.
• Stabilizing Schools & Growing Delaware’s Economy: Does the farmer blame the seed when the crop doesn’t grow?
  • Every Delawarean deserves access to a high-quality and affordable education.
  • Delaware can help build a homegrown, highly-educated, workforce by investing in our families.
  • I will advocate for additional funding and equitable allocation of resources to public schools, higher-education, and trade/vocational programs so our youth, and young adults, are equipped with the knowledge needed to secure good-paying jobs and can afford to stay in our community.
• Protecting Civil Rights and Liberties: We must strengthen our state laws and constitution while collaborating with local municipalities to protect all Delawareans.
  • Delaware is the First State… and we didn’t earn that title by letting King George III treat us like a doormat.
  • Delaware must stand as a steady shield against increasingly volatile federal policy shifts.

Born and raised in Delaware, Andy Gorlich knows exactly what makes our community special—and what is at risk if we don’t plan for the future. He has spent his entire life living, working, and investing in Delaware, now he’s running to represent it. He understands the unique balance of our area, from our vital agricultural roots to our beautiful, vulnerable wetlands & coastlines.

For the past 18 years, Andy Gorlich has served Delawareans as a mathematics educator in a public school district or a public institution working daily with local students and families. This nearly two decades of classroom experience gives him a direct, unfiltered understanding of the challenges facing our community.

Holding a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics Education, he understands how to look at the numbers objectively, identify where systems are breaking down, and bring people together to build practical solutions.
